In/Out-Class Activities (45 points)

1. Offline (In-Class) Participation (30 points total)
1a. In-Class Participation (15 points - 1 point/week) -
Active/productive participation in class during activities, laboratories and exercises will be expected from all professional teacher candidates.  Following each activity/demonstration/laboratory, each table of students will discuss how they would teach the activity in their classroom using one of the science methods presented by the instructor.  One candidate from each table will be asked to present a short (2-3 minute) conceptual science MicroTeach (mT) to reinforce the particular science method introduced and provide practice for teaching science.  The intent is to supplement direct instruction with active, student centered teaching.   Therefore, if you are attentive during the presentation of the science method, the natural propensity to practice this method will occur.  This will be a low-keyed, brief presentation amongst colleagues.

1b. In-Class Chapter Quizzes (15 points - 11 Chapters, Syllabus and Culminating) - A brief short response quiz opportunity will be offered at the beginning of class on each chapter that we will be discussing that day.  The quizzes will be taken on your Post-It notes, so please be prepared with material and having read the chapter.  In addition, a quiz on the syllabus as well as points will be provided for a culminating experience.

2. Online (Out of Class) Participation (15 points total) - Complete, clear, concise and timely responses to the Blackboard Discussion Thread (http://blackboard.unf.edu).  You will be given one week (7 days) to respond to the Thread.  One Discussion Thread/week will be provided per week (1 point/week for 15 weeks equals 15 points total).  You will need to check your response as I will respond to yours and if it is inadequate, you will need to readdress to receive the points.
